In my opinion, Henry VII was successful at solving his problems because he did a number of clever things. One of the things he did was to stop the War of the Roses. He did this by defeating the Yorkists at the Battle Of Stoke in 1487 but he also married Princess Elizabeth which brought the two Houses of York and Lancaster together. This helped keep the peace.
