9 th period 9 th period is an intervention time that takes place after school and involves the teacher and the student. Teachers can ask students to attend 9 th period for a variety of reasons, i. e. . . behavior, coming unprepared to class, missing work, for any type of positive reasons, etc… th Depending on the situation, 9 period usually doesn’t take longer than 3 minutes. Redo’s Each student has the opportunity to redo any test or quiz within 2 weeks of the posted grade. They may redo the problems that they missed for ½ credit back on each corrected problem. These redo’s must be done in the classroom before or after school. If a student wants to earn full credit back a redo worksheet MUST be done prior to taking the redo test. This worksheet is done by the student either at home or after school tutoring. The worksheet gives kids an opportunity to evaluate the mistake they made and then describe how they will correct their mistake; this worksheet acts as a study guide. Students wishing to redo will then bring in their ORIGINAL graded test AND the REDO WORKSHEET at the time they come in to redo the assessment. Tardy vs. Absent A student who is late to class within the first 15 minutes of class will be counted tardy. A student missing more than 15 minutes of class will be counted absent. You will be considered tardy if you are not in the classroom when the bell rings. If you are late because you were talking to another teacher/administrator, you MUST bring a written note signed by that adult. PBS – Positive Behavior Support Be Safe – enter and exit the classroom safely - keep hands and feet to yourself - use supplies appropriately Be Respectful – listen when the teacher or a classmate is speaking - raise your hand to speak - stay on task without disturbing or distracting others - no put downs or complaining - use manners - have a positive attitude Be Responsible - be on time - be prepared for class with the appropriate materials - always try - positively participate in class - complete all assigned work on time Curriculum and Chromebooks Our Math curriculum is called Illustrative Mathematics. Students will not have a Math textbook this year. All of the curriculum will be online at: https: //im. kendallhunt. com/MS/index. html With an online curriculum, students will be responsible for a chromebook to access everything they need for Math. It is imperative that students charge their chromebooks every night in order to be successful for the next school day. Students are expected to use the restroom and get a drink during their passing time. Each student will be given a hall pass each 9 weeks to use for the restroom or their locker. If a pass has been used but a student needs to leave, that student will be required to show up for 9 th period and make up missed time. If a student does not use their hall pass during a quarter, it will be worth extra credit.
