Be of the Same Mind To One Another Romans 12: 16

Of the Same Mind • Romans 12: 16, do not be wise in your own opinion • Romans 15: 5 -6, with this we treat each other with respect and as we differ in matters of liberty

Of the Same Mind • 2 Corinthians 13: 11, be of one mind, of good comfort • Philippians 1: 27, worthy conduct, one spirit and one mind

Of the Same Mind • Philippians 3: 16, (NKJV) walk by the same rule, be of the same mind • Philippians 4: 2, implore Euodia and Syntyche to be of the same mind in the Lord.

A call for unity • Because we seek to understand alike, we are striving for true unity • John 17: 20 -21 • 1 Corinthians 1: 10 • Ephesians 4: 1 -3 • Philippians 2: 1 -2

Being of one mind in: • • Doctrine See above texts Acts 2: 42 1 Corinthians 1: 10, 4: 17 – speak the same thing (even in every church)

Being of one mind in: • Doctrine • Philippians 3: 16, walk by the same rule • 2 John 9 -11, Galatians 1: 6 -9, reject the one who brings something different

Being of one mind in: • Purpose • Agreement in our reason for being here, what we do and how we do it • Philippians 1: 27, striving together for the faith of the gospel

Being of one mind in: • Goals • The aim or our efforts, our ultimate target • Philippians 3: 12 -14, press on & toward the goal • 2 Corinthians 4: 18, we look to the things not seen

Being of one mind means: • We do not show respect of persons • Acts 10: 34, Romans 2: 11, God doesn’t! • Prejudice condemned – James 2: 1 -4, 8 -9 • Galatians 3: 27 -28

Being of one mind means: • We set our minds on things above • Colossians 3: 1 -2, we seek it, find it (Matt. 7: 7 -8) and set (make up) our mind to obtain it! • God’s word becomes our only standard – 2 Peter 1: 3, 2 Timothy 2: 15, 1 Thessalonians 2: 13

Being of one mind means: • We seek to imitate Christ • 1 Corinthians 11: 1 • Philippians 2: 5 -8, we seek to emulate the mind of Christ (in obedience, etc. )

Being of one mind means: • We seek to imitate Christ • Did Jesus intend to divide? (cf. Matt. 10: 34). His desire was, and still is, unity – John 17: 20 -21, 1 Timothy 2: 3 -4, John 3: 17 • But man is not willing to receive it – John 1: 9 -11, 3: 19 -21

Being of one mind means: • We seek to imitate Christ • 1 Peter 4: 1 -2, arm yourself with the same mind

Being of one mind means: • We look out for the interest of others • Philippians 2: 3 -4, it is not about you! Cf. 1 Corinthians 8: 9 -11

Being of one mind means: • We are careful of our judgments of one another • Matthew 7: 1 -5, consistency, with pure motives, w/o prejudice, etc. • Do we give the benefit of the doubt? Respect liberties?

Being of one mind means: • With one mouth and mind we glorify God • Romans 15: 6, our unity brings Him glory! • E. g. In worship, we together glorify Him (Colossians 3: 16, 1 Corinthians 10: 16 -17)

Being of one mind means: • We will grow as the body of Christ • Ephesians 4: 16, as every part does its share, the body will grow for the edifying of itself in love.

Am I striving to be of the same mind with my brethren?
