FSA Math
6 th Math – What we do… • To be successful in Math, students should: o o Stay organized. Keep all their work and take readable notes. Practice by completing homework each night. Study for tests by self-assessing. Practice the problems from notes and study guide and check for understanding. Ask after attempting and reviewing notes. • How parents can help: o Assignments for the week are copied to the planner on the first day of the week. Please review the assignments and sign the planner for the student to maintain 100 on the planner/homework assignment. o Check for test dates and to be sure student has studied. o Check with teacher about extra help.
Math – The Test • • The FSA is computer-based. A paper copy of the reference sheet will be allowed. A four-page work folders will be allowed. Many questions are response-based rather than multiple choice. • To view the detailed test specifications and a sample test, go to www. fsassessments. org. • You can take the practice test, just click sign in, select grade, and give it a try. (There is also an answer key. ) • The FSA Test will be in APRIL after Spring Break.
Math – th 6 Sample • This question is typical multiple choice, which the students are accustomed to seeing.
Math – th 6 Sample Note: This item includes a new concept for 6 th grade MAD. This also requires students to click above the number line to plot points.

FSA ELA Language Arts, Reading, Writing
ELA – What we do… • To be successful in English Language Arts, students should: o READ!! AR requirement and is 10% of students grade. o Stay organized. o Come to school!!!! • How parents can help: o Make sure your student is reading AT LEAST 20 minutes each night! o Ask to see graded classwork and tests o Check students planner
ELA – The Test • It includes a writing component for each grade level. • The writing test will be at the end of FEBRUARY and the results will be included in the ELA test score. • A writing field test will be administered in December at selected schools. We do not yet know if we are selected. • The FSA ELA test will be administered in APRIL, after spring break. • The FSA Writing Component will be paper based and the FSA ELA is computer-based for 2016 - 2017, so students will type any written responses using the computer keyboard. • To view the detailed test specifications and a sample test, go to www. fsassessments. org. • You can take the practice test, just click sign in, select grade, and give it a try. Writing – Sample This prompt requires the student to read multiple passages and pull information to complete a multi-paragraph essay.
ELA – Sample • This test includes the use of sound with standards for speaking and listening.
