SAFETY For transmission reduction: Universal masking for school staff and children PPE supply for school nurses. Ideally segregated area for respiratory illness evaluation Increased cleaning of high touch surfaces / bathrooms Defer sports, arts, town halls, and extracurricular until the epidemiology is better understood Implement a tracking and surveillance system for school nurses to identify student and faculty symptoms and exposures PANDEMIC RESPONSE TEAM • Established relationship with public health and/or medical consultant to handle problems in real time • Temperature and symptom screening on arrival, with referral for care if screened positive • Students who have been/ becomes sick will need to provide evidence of full recovery before returning to school that include negative PCR x 2 (preferred) or asymptomatic/time based • • •
SECURITY/PANDEMIC RESPONSE • Points of egress admission / dismissal • We cannot open on a (normal) schedule and allow for social distancing in halls, bathroom, offices, cafeteria, entrance, classrooms • We need to consider a drastic change in school hours to allow for screening and safe entry and mitigation • Thermal scanning • Plan for shut down if multiple positives • Cleaning / PPE / co-curricular activities

Plans now • Points of egress admission / dismissal plexiglass • Label halls, stairs, classrooms social distancing • Hand sanitizer / PPE • Custodial staff cleaning • Collective bargaining agreements • Cleaning / PPE / co-curricular activities • Forecasting Fall/Winter 2020/2021 • HVAC Modifications
School Year 2020 -2021 PLAN DECISION • Remain in virtual learning platform – no in-person instruction all virtual the schedule of school will be consistent with a full day of instruction. Meals will be grab-n-go and provided on Tuesday and Thursday (modified for schedule days off) • Hybrid instruction combination of in-person and virtual. The schedule proposed is A/B/C The schedule rotates every 2 days - Breakfast will be grab-n-go and Lunch will be offered after the school days proposed time on/or about 1: 11 pm • All students receiving instruction 5 days per week with dismissal on/or about 1: 11 pm with grab-n -go lunch and breakfast being provided. • **** Plan three offers one challenge which must be considered. If a student/family opts out of live instruction and chooses to educate their child via the Bayonne School District Virtual Platform - and then decides at a later date to send their student(s) to school the district could have an issue with social distancing. Plan 3 doesn’t provide the district the opportunity to calculate with a high degree of accuracy how many students will attend school. **** •
