Battle of kircholm Battle of Kircholm was one of the major battles in the Polish-Swedish War of 1600 -1611. The battle was decided in 20 minutes by the devastating charge of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth cavalry, the Winged Hussars. The battle ended in the decisive victory of Polish-Lithuanian forces, and is remembered as the greatest ever triumph of Commonwealth cavalry. It happened on September 27 th, 1605, or September 17 th in old style calendar which was used in Protestant countries.

Today the Battle of Kircholm is studied in military academies as classic. After the battle the Polish King was complimented by pope, English King, Sultan and Shah of Persia and many others sovereigns.
