Basic Surveying Training Module A refresher course in
Basic Surveying Training Module A refresher course in basic surveying procedures for Tri-State Land Surveying
Background • Old equipment vs New equipment • Accuracy of measuring. Sokkisha TM 20 C Trimble R 6 GPS base
Presentation Objective At the conclusion of this presentation you will be able to: v Check your tribrach for level. v Check your surveying rods bubble for level. v To properly set-up and collect data for a control network.
Leveling Q. Why is it important to make sure that the equipment that I am using is level.
Parts of the Tribrach Optical plummet Tripod Level bubble Thumbscrew
Tribrach Tripod with tribrach Looking through optical plummet
Tribrach cont. Tribrach level on tripod Tribrach tracing on tripod
Survey Rod Checking the survey rod for level Method 1 Using a True Plumb™ to check for level
Survey Rod cont. Method 2 Using a Stedi-Rest™ to check for level.
Survey Rod cont. Some of the reasons that a level bubble will not properly adjust are: Ø That the rod has been dropped, damaging the bubble vile beyond repair. Ø You may have a slightly bent survey rod. Ø The adjustment screws have become worn beyond the ability to be used. If any of these reasons are found to be the cause of the problem, notify the surveying supervisor for a replacement.
Control Networks Q. Why would I create a control network for my project.

In Conclusion You should now be able to complete the following tasks: • Be able to check and determine if the tribrach you are using is able to reliably be leveled. • Check and correct the error in you survey rods level bubble vile. • Know how to collect control networking data.
