ANALOG SIGNAL Definition Example • A continuous signal for which the time varying feature (variable) of the signal is a representation of some other time varying quantity • [Sound recording] • The sound strike the diaphragm of a microphone which induces corresponding fluctuations in the current produced by a coil in an electromagnetic microphone, or the voltage produced by a condensor microphone. The voltage or the current is said to be an "analog" of the sound.
ANALOG VIDEO CAMERA Record video and audio signals as an analog track on video tape. The main difference between the available analog formats is what kind of video tape the camcorder uses and the resolution.
• After you've recorded something, you can pop the tape out and play it on most VCRs. • Give longer recording time • Very similar to 8 mm camcorders, but with a much higher resolution - about 400 lines. • Record on standard VHS tape. • Need an adaptor device to run VCR tapes. • Smaller tape size -> shorter running time. Standard VHS Hi-8 VHS-C Analog formats camcorders • Use small 8 mm tapes. • Manufacturers can produce more compact camcorders. • Has a higher resolution image than standard VHS tape Super VHS 8 mm Super VHS-C • Super VHS-C is to super VHS as VHS-C is to standard VHS: It's just a more compact version that uses a smaller size cassette.
• Mount to ceilings, poles, roofs, walls and corners Housing • Protect cameras and lenses in & challenging Mounts environments. • Allow for additional flexibility in mounting options. PT driver Lens • A software to enable internet connection to video camera.
DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA • Record information digitally, as bytes, which means the image can be reproduced without losing any image or audio quality • Digital video can also be downloaded to a computer, where you can edit it or post it on the Web. • Has a much better resolution than analog video, typically 500 lines.
• Record directly onto solid-state memory cards, such as Flash memory cards, Memory Sticks and SD cards. DIGITAL FORMATS Memory card DVD • Each recording session is recorded as an individual track, just like the individual song tracks on a CD • Record on compact cassettes, which are fairly expensive and hold about 60 to 90 minutes of footage. Mini. DV Digital 8 • They use standard Hi-8 mm tapes, which are less expensive. These tapes hold up to 60 minutes of footage, which can be copied without any loss in quality
