Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re both off and away!
You have a map in your hands. You have your twin by your side. With these you’ll climb over any hillside. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.
Seasons pass in the blink of an eye. Until winter blows in with the time of Yuletide. It’s a time for Celebration! So don’t worry. Don’t fret. There are presents to give and presents to get.
A dance was held on a snowy night. Where you met your perfect pair. With presents exchanged, for their hands you asked in this cold winter air.
In a straight line the couples dance. They glide and twirl and prance. Then all of a sudden, to your dismay, a giant twister breaks up the fray!
“Oh no!” they cried. But it was quite hopeless. The twins were split far away from their couplets. And so they resolved to journey together. Their one mission was to find their matching other.
But you can get so confused that you’ll start in to race Down long wiggled roads at a break-necking pace And grind on for miles across weirdish wild space, Headed, I fear, toward a most useless place. The Waiting Place…
…for people just waiting. Waiting for the fish to bite Or waiting for wind to fly a kite Or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake Or a pot to boil, or a Better Break Or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants Or a wig with curls, or Another Chance. Everyone is just waiting.
NO! That’s not for you! Somehow you’ll escape all that waiting and staying. You’ll find the bright places where Boom Bands are playing.
With banners flip-flapping, once more you’ll ride high! In a straight line you’ll march with a triumphant cry! Except when you realize the search is not easy. Into two parties you split leaving quite quickly.
All Alone! Whether you like it or not, Alone will be something You’ll be quite a lot. But on you will go Though the road be rough. On you will go Though you’ve had enough. Onward to the end of the tunnel, You’ll find her among the raindrops and puddles.
‘Tis a Happy Ending for you two. But don’t forget the last thing to do! “The End” is not yet. You still have to find the dear brother and sister you have left behind. On and on you will hike. And I know you’ll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are.
And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed. ) KID, YOU’LL MAKE A NEW START!
So… be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O’Shea, you’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! You have everyone beside you. So. . . get on your way!
Meiosis Background Interphase- twin represents synthesis/ homologues chromosomes Meiosis I: • Prophase I- the journey that the twins take together represent synapses and the coming together of tetrads -the “gene-swapping” is when they exchange gifts with the twin sisters • Metaphase I- when the couples danced in a straight line (tetrads line up at equator) • Anaphase I- they were separated by the tornado (tetrads split/ independent assortment occurs= random distribution of homologues chromosomes) • Telophase I- when they decided to go on their journey to find the other twins (haploid but duplicated)
Meiosis Background (Continued) Interkinesis- the Waiting Place (rest period between the two meiosis cycles/ no interphase in between) Meiosis II: • Prophase II- when they leave the Waiting Place and find the Boom Bands (meiosis II is beginning: spindle fibers form, nuclear envelope breaks down, etc. ) • Metaphase II- the twins march with the Boom Bands in a straight line (lining up at equator) • Anaphase II- they decide to search for the twin sisters separately and split up the search (split apart like in regular mitosis) • Telophase II- twin found his “match” and later reunites with his other twin and his match; they make a “new start” (haploid but not duplicated)
