Measures of the BASC-2 Teacher Rating Scales (TRS) � Available for preschool (25), children (6 -11) and adolescents (12 -21). � Scores externalized behaviors such as hyperactivity and aggression and internalized problems such as depression and anxiety. (Stein, 2004; Reynolds & Kamphaus, 2004). Parent Rating Scales (PRS) Similar to the Teacher Rating Scale but from the parent’s perspective in the home and community.
Measures of the BASC-2 Self-Report of Personality (SRP) *Rates the child’s anxiety, attitudes towards school, attitudes towards teachers, depression, and interpersonal relations. *Scale presented in a true or false format and a 4 -point scale (Never/Sometimes/Often/ Almost Always) (Stein, 2004; Reynolds & Kamphaus, 2004). The Structure Developmental History (SDH) *Interview preformed by clinician or form filled in individually by the parents. *Provides information about medical and developmental information *Provides context of the behaviors The Student Observation System (SOS) *momentary time lapsing to record instances of behaviors within the classroom

Development � Conceptualized in 1985 � The authors recognized a need for integrated assessment to be used in a variety of settings � Took 7 years to develop scales, standardization and validation � The original BASC was then published in 1992. � I was revised in 2004 to include strength-based assessments (Reynolds & Kamphaus, 2004)
Normative Population � Collected between 2002 and 2004 � Includes individuals 2 -18 in over 13, 000 cases � General norms involve race, ethnicity, and gender � Clinical norms involve learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, speech/language delays, and ADHD (Stein, 2004; Reynolds & Kamphaus, 2004)
Technical Aspects � Validity Scales – F index, consistency index, and response pattern index to indicate possible irregularities � Construct Validity - high � Reliability – Utilized test-retest on all age levels and scales in a span of 3 to 6 weeks � Strength of Normative Sample – higher female to male population and some regions of the U. S. left untested � (Rescorla, 2009; Stein, 2004; Watson, 2004)
Theoretical Orientation � The BASC-2 measures behavioral and emotional constructs of children, adolescents and young adults with a developmental perspective. � (Hakman, M. , 2010).
