Bart 107889 - Internship Research and Development- Drivetrain & HV Department Internship topic: Improve Driveshaft strength simulation model Our team: Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, the development and the production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European market requirements. R&D aims to strengthen the Toyota image in Europe. The Drivetrain & Hybrid department is responsible for design & evaluation of Manual T/M, Automatic T/M, CVT T/M, and Hybrid vehicles which can be implemented in power train system to reduce fuel consumption, cost, weight in Toyota`s vehicles as well as improving their drivability. Your project: We are designing and testing drive shafts for EU market. To make good design we need to estimate the required strength beforehand, for that we are using a simulation tool. 1. Major task: A) To understand improve where possible the current simulation model for driveshaft strength. B) With the support of Toyota engineers / technicians, take data to verify your simulation model. 2. Schedule Starting date: March 2013 Duration: 6 months or longer Place of internship: Toyota Motor Europe-Technical Centre (Brussels/Belgium) Your assets: • Student in last year of study, mechanical engineering • Good knowledge in automotive and power train system • Strong out-of-box thinking • Flexible team player • Open personality able to work in an independent way, hands-on mentality • Required computer skills: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Matlab is mandatory (for efficient data analysis) • Fluent in English. • Owner of a driving license
