Total Eclipse of Communication From: Managing Director To: Executive Director ‘Tomorrow morning there will be a total eclipse of the sun at nine o’clock. To mark the occasion of this rare occurrence, I will personally explain the phenomenon to them. If it is raining we will not be able to see it very well and in that case the work force should assemble in the canteen. ’ • From: Executive Director • To: Departmental Head ‘By order of the Managing Director, there will be a total eclipse of the sun at nine o’ clock tomorrow morning. If it is raining we will not be able to see it in our best clothes, on the site. In this case the disappearance of the sun will be followed through in the canteen. Physical and Mechanical Barriers ü Noise - Communication is also affected a lot by noise to distractions. A bad cellular phone line or a noisy restaurant can destroy communication. If an E-mail message or letter is not formatted properly, or if it contains grammatical and spelling errors, the receiver may not be able to concentrate on the message because the physical appearance of the letter or E-mail is sloppy and unprofessional. ü Time – Time refers to reaching of the message. ü Information Overload - If you receive a message with too much information, you may tend to put up a barrier because the amount of information is coming so fast that you may have 1/2/2022 BBA 110 Business 9 difficulty comfortably interpreting that information.
