BarangayBased Institutions Rationale With the desire to address

Barangay-Based Institutions

Rationale With the desire to address so many concerns and bring development at the barangay level, the government initiated the creation of several barangay anti-crime bodies and barangay-based development institutions mostly chaired by the Punong Barangay himself. This has resulted to confusion, overlapping of functions, uneconomical utilization of human, material and financial resources, and undue burden to barangay officials. Hence, rendering these bodies and institutions non-functional.

Rationale There are only (2) very important committees in the barangay namely: Peace and Order, and Development. All other concerns relative to the welfare of the barangay would fall into any of the said committees. It is through the expanded BPOC and BDC that a system of coordinating the efforts of the anti-crime bodies, different development institutions and citizens’ participation can be established and maintained.
