BAPTISM AND CONSCIENCE New Testament Baptism Is An Antitype

A type is an imprint, pattern or shadow cast. The antitype is the real thing, the reality, the full embodiment.

Rom. 5: 14, Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is a figure (tupos) of Him that was to come. “Him that was to come” is the anti-type to Adam’s type. Jesus is the Real Thing.

Type Noah and his family “saved by means of water” in the flood. Antitype We “in like figure” (antitype) are saved by means of baptism. The type and the antitype both worked well!
