Badminton Shots Drop shot Overhead clear Smash
Drop Shot The shuttle is hit softly. Shuttle hits the ground just after clearing net. Can be overhand or underhand.
When to use a drop shot The drop shot is used to take advantage of an opponent who is positioned too deep in his/her zone. This will make the opponent have to make a shot on the move, which will be tougher on them. If done properly a drop shot will force your opponent out of position or possibly even score you a point.
Overhead Clear Can be an attacking or defensive strike. The main goal is to force your opponent to the back of his or her zone. Allows you to regain proper position while shuttle is in the air.
Types of Overhead Clear
Smash The most aggressive and attacking stroke in badminton. A high velocity overhead hit. The steeper the angle the more effective the smash. The only goal with this shot is to score a point.
