Project Based Learning (PBL) Loudoun County Public Schools began the implementation of learning through One to the World in 2016. One to the World is a type of learning in which students will solve authentic problems and make real world connections. We used this model last year and we will be using this model again in our classrooms this year through Project Based Learning is very similar to One to the World in that students will be empowered to make meaningful contributions to the world by solving an authentic challenging problem. Students will exhibit persistence and passion while learning significant content and importance competencies as they focus on authentic problems in our world.
Project Based Learning (PBL) • Students will have the opportunity to critique, revise, and reflect throughout their project and will create a public product. • We will need your support during our projects as we will be conducting four projects that align with various SOL’s (Standards of Learning) this year.
PARENT SURVEY
Code to the Future Moorefield Station is one (1) of three (3) Loudoun County Public Schools that was selected to represent our school division in a new initiative beginning last year. In Kindergarten, students will balance the time they spend on computers by engaging in hands-on, high-interest lessons with manipulatives, such as Legos, in order to develop an understanding of patterns and sequences that will serve as a foundation for computer programming.
Code to the Future One of the computer programs we will be using is Scratch. If you have access to a computer at home, it would be highly beneficial for you to create an account for your child to use at home to start exploring the program Scratch so they are somewhat familiar with the program when we begin using it in 3 weeks. https: //scratch. mit. edu/ If you have an i. Pad, the Scratch program we are using in the classroom will not be on the i. Pad but you may use the Scratch Jr. app.
