Back to School Night Mrs. Palmieri Class 2 -1 September 16, 2019
Introductions Welcome to Class 2 -1! This year we have 24 wonderfully unique students, two teaching assistants (Mrs. Renz and Ms. Galosic), and myself making up our class. Let’s take a look at the important things to know for our year together.

Parent Expectations Believe in your student. Ask about learning and help them complete homework and study for assessments. Check our class website weekly and the parent portal frequently. www. lbcrs. org https: //drvcpowerschool. org/ Expand your student’s knowledge. Visit the library, museums, or get involved in a sport (soccer, softball, etc. ) Foster your student’s independence in household duties. Please try and not repeat directions more than two times.

Snacks and Lunch We have a healthy snack daily at about 9: 45 a. m. To ensure the safety of all students who use this classroom, this snack may not include any peanut products(including nutella). Lunch should include a drink (if you are not purchasing milk. ) Ice Cream money should be put directly into your child’s lunchbox!
Homework Expectations Homework will be given daily Monday through Thursday. A Reading assignment will be given monthly. sign and check Open. Please House homework for accuracy. Send me a note if your child had difficulty with it. . however, the page should not be blank! Homework should be done daily ; please do not work ahead…I may not have taught the topic yet!
Homework Chaos Open House If something happens unexpectedly in your life after school or in the evening… and your child does not do their homework… please send me a note or an email. I get it…I understand… but please don’t leave it to the 7 year old to explain it!

Grades All assessments will be graded according to a task specific rubric (rubrics of 1 -4 will be attached to MOST assessments). A score of 3 means the student is meeting grade level expectations. A score below 3 means the student is not meeting grade level expectations. A score above 3 means the student is demonstrating the ability to understand material in a variety of ways. Please check the parent portal frequently as this will help you keep track of your child’s progress throughout the trimester. Friday folders show only weekly assessments.
Dismissal and Absences Please put all dismissal changes in writing and remind your child to hand in the note. I do not check their folders, they are responsible for turning things in …and they are getting very good at it! If your child is absent, please send in an absent note with them on the day they return to school. Homework requests must be placed in the morning. It is difficult to fulfill them later in the day. Please refrain from emailing your requests to me as there is no guarantee I can even look at email during the day! THANK YOU!!!
Other Important Information Birthday Celebrations: We would love to celebrate your child’s birthday by inviting you in to read a story to our class from 8: 308: 45 am…please send me an email the week before! Open House Uniforms: Your child should be in proper uniform each day. Gym uniforms are only worn on gym days and field trips. Please refer to the calendar for specific uniform regulations, including hair cuts, nail polish, jewelry, etc.
