Our Class Rules /Follow directions the first time. /Raise your hand before speaking. /Keep your hands and feet to yourself. /Respect yourself and others. /Do your best work!

Behavior Codes /Green= Great day! /Yellow= Warning! Required several redirections (consequence-loss of privilege or 5 min. timeout at recess) /Red=Rough day! Chose to ignore rules for most of the day (consequence-15 min. time out, sad note home)

Behavior Information /Students have many opportunities for rewards during the week. Each student has a sticker chart and has the chance to earn other rewards even if they do not earn a prize from the treasure chest on Fridays. /Students are always given the opportunity to “make it better. ”

How Can I Help My Child at Home? /Read to your child and ask lots of questions before, during, and after each story /Read Non-Fiction texts /Practice sight words /Work on handwriting, finger spacing, etc. /Encourage independence and responsibility /Journal writing /Introduce, model, and use robust vocabulary

Grading Policy /A variety of assessment tools are used to measure and document student progress and performance (teacher observations, student products, interactive notebooks, etc. ) The following options are used in each subject area: /4 -Advanced, above grade level /3 -Skilled, on grade level /2 -Basic understanding, on grade level /1 -Needs improvement, below grade level
