Student Learning Outcomes � � � I have developed leadership skills to provide and continuously improve the delivery of safe, patient-centered quality healthcare. I am able to integrate effective communication and collaboration skills to improve patient satisfaction and health outcomes. I am able to integrate professional values and behaviors when delivering standards-based nursing care to diverse patients and populations.
General Education Competencies. � � � My understanding of the views of others and communicating in a professional manner will promote the best possible outcome for the patient. I now have the ability to use computers, software applications, databases, and other technologies to achieve a variety of academic and work-related goals to research evidenced –based practice. My understanding of philosophies that represent social, emotional, and behavioral attributes of society and individuals will ensure that the patients’ rights are observed.
BSN Essentials � Essential I: Liberal Education for Baccalaureate Generalist Nursing Practice � � � Retrieving basic knowledge of Physical, natural and life sciences has strengthened by assessing patients and implementing quality measures and providing education to improve infection control among staff and patients, and especially family members who do not understand the importance of infection control. Essential II: Basic Organizational and Systems Leadership for Quality Care and Patient Safety � Patient safety and quality measures are gathered by evidenced -based practice, therefore, assessing the information surrounding patient’s safety from falls, is critical in prevention of any injuries. Essential III: Scholarship for Evidence Based Practice (Professional nursing practice is grounded in the translation of current evidence into one's practice). � Evidenced-based practice incorporates the providers’ clinical expertise with best researched clinical evidence.
BSN Essentials Continued � Essential V: Health Care Policy, Finance, and Regulatory Environments � This incorporates being responsible in advocating for the patient and monitoring their length of stay for their particular diagnosis that the patient was admitted with, in which I am involved with as a case manager. � Essential VI: Interprofessional Communication and Collaboration for Improving Patient Health Care Outcomes � There are many disciplinary teams available to assist in improving the outcome of the patients care. Twice a week there are care meetings that I am able to take part of as a leader. � Essential VII: Clinical Prevention and Population Health � I now have the knowledge to become involved with advocating for patients by writing the legislation, or have a meeting with legislators in order for changes to made within our community and make concerns in the community a priority.
Conclusion Communicating effectively with patients, families and healthcare team will promote the best possible outcome for the patient. By providing compassionate, patient-centered, evidence-based care will improve hospital readmissions, that are unnecessary and preventable. I have developed strong leadership skills, such as; communication skills, compassion, confidence and patience to inspire others to promote better quality patient care. This program has increased my knowledge of how to obtain the understanding of the views of others and communicate in a professional manner despite how others may react to ones’ questions or inquiries. By being persistent, and assertive in obtaining a reply assists in obtaining answers in order to adequately improve and promote quality patient care.
