PCS Dress Code Clothing must always meet the Pinellas County Code of Student Conduct dress code. Dress Code (Policy 5500. 04) In General The dress and grooming of District students shall be neat and clean, promoting a positive educational environment. Apparel that disrupts educational activities and processes of the school will result in the removal of the student from the regular school environment until acceptable apparel can be secured for the student. The administration will be the final judge about whether a student’s clothing is appropriate for school or whether it will create an environmental climate that is distracting to learning. Principals, faculty, and staff members will enforce the dress code. Failure to comply with the dress code will be handled similarly to other disciplinary infractions. Non-compliance may result in consequences including but not limited to detention, inschool suspension and loss of eligibility to participate in extracurricular activities.
Pants must fit at waist YES!
YES! - Blue Jeans permitted Rips permitted only if skin does not show
No Skin-tight bottoms or leggings No Rips that expose skin
NO! YOGA OR SPANDEX LEGGINGS
YES! - Shorts, basketball shorts mid-thigh or longer
No shorts Pants and shorts must fit at waist No underwear showing
YES! - Skirts or dresses mid-thigh or longer
Dresses and skirts ØMust cover shoulder ØMust be appropriate length (mid-thigh or longer) ØNo see-through fabric ØNot form fitting
YES! - V-neck or crew neck t-shirts Any writing or embellishments must be school appropriate
YES! - Polo shirts and dress shirts Any writing or embellishments must be school appropriate
No low cut shirts No see through clothing No undergarments showing No midriff showing
Shoes must have backs Prefer closed toe
No flip flops or slides!
Jackets, sweatshirts, and sweaters must have school appropriate clothing underneath
Headgear NO hats, bandanas, scarves, head coverings, dew rags, or headbands Hats outside only!
Consequences Students who are out of dress code Option A: student changes into school appropriate clothing. Option B: Parents will be notified to bring a change of clothing or pick student up Option C: student will remain in IC until a change of clothing is provided. Repeated dress code violations will result in ABS
