e-line BTVs • • • RP survey at CTF 3 on 11/1. BTVs 970, 1070 have low dose rate: 1 -2 u. Sv/h @ 40 cm. Will be moved to BI radioactive zone ASAP. At present, BTVs ready for vacuum acceptance end of June 2017 Detailed wbs for refurbishing/ installation under BI review. 9/7/2021 AWAKE ECM 3
BTVs, 10 Hz upgrade • • • BTV Frame rate is limited by Vme bus bandwidth. On average, 100 ms needed for full frame image transmission 10 Hz frame rate for all (4) BTVs not possible. 10 Hz can be achieved for one camera, when all others are off Implementation should be discussed with BI team. 9/7/2021 AWAKE ECM 4
BTV upgrade for ‘halo’ measurement • • • Request to upgrade BTVs after plasma cell. Simultaneous observation of core and halo Several options for optical design and technical solution Proposal: keep BTV line under BI responsibility. BI shall advice / perform optical design for halo line Details / availability of resources to be discussed p+ halo BTV 9/7/2021 AWAKE ECM 5
e-line BPMs: status • TRIUMF 40 mm BPM: • • • TRIUMF 60 mm BPM: • • • Tested with success in CALIFES. Resolutions better than 50 um 7 BPMs at CERN ready for vacuum acceptance tests Installed in TT 41 (412351) tested with proton beam 400 MHz FE test in November showed beam fluctuation in order of 100 um (shot to shot). Very successful test. 2 GHz FE test in December gave confusing results. 2 GHz signal 28 d. B higher that 400 MHz signal, which cannot be real. See SPS beam spectrum measured in December on AWAKE beam. Not understood yet. 5 BPMS manufactured and being tested at TRIUMF Electronics: • Being manufactured 9/7/2021 AWAKE ECM 6
p+BPMs: high power laser issue • • • When high power laser is on, artifact on p+BPMs readings Effect not studied yet. Proposal is to analyse raw BPM reading (eg with a scope) w high power laser. To be coordinated with QP section, possible in February / March 07. 9/7/2021 AWAKE ECM 7
e-spectrometer line: status • • Mirrors ready to be ordered, two offers received. Issue with UCL team account solved. Lead time: 12 weeks. Uncoated borofloat glass, to be coated at CERN with protected / unprotected Al Design of mirror support progressing, in collaboration with ESO.
