AVID Advancement Via Individual Determination A college readiness class at middle school and high school levels to support students in entering and being successful in a four-year college.
What AVID Is. . . and Is NOT AVID is… ● For the “middle to upper ” academic students ● A class that combines rigor with support that builds on the student’s individual determination ● Students in AVID must maintain a “C” or better in all classes. AVID is NOT… ● ● an “at-risk” class for students who fail to complete any of their homework for students who consistently receive lots of D’s and F’s for unmotivated students
What Is AVID? ● A Year-Long elective class that focuses on academic skills and strategies for success in middle school, high school, and college. ● Develop and practice skills that make you a better student, and make class work easier, better, and more successful. ● Support from teachers, college mentors, and classmates to make learning better and have success in classes.
