What did the survey show in terms of accessibility? q From the total number of students surveyed. Only 35. 71% of students prefer to use a desktop PC to access the internet and 25% more student prefer to access the internet using laptops. q Smart phones are preferred by a whopping 71. 43% of the students surveyed. q No student uses other devices such as EDA's and PDA's q Survey also showed that 46. 43% of the students surveyed prefer both LAN and Wireless connections to browse the internet and off the total number of students 42. 86% prefer to use wireless connectivity. q On average, students spent more than 4 hours per day accessing the internet and that 89. 29% of them selected Google Chrome as their preferred Internet Browser. q Study also showed that 18 of the total number of students surveyed are Intermediate users which covers 64. 29%
Did all students surveyed have access to the Internet outside of campus? Yes, most students who accessed the survey used their mobile devices and has access to wireless hotspots. The survey was distributed via Whats. App. Did socio-economic factors play a role in your findings? Not necessarily, because in this survey we see that a majority of the internet user are well versed and quit skilled in usage of internet. Google chrome was selected as a preferred internet browser. Which is an indication that more and more people are now aware of the various tools available for use and now have preferences. A high majority of students have access to smart an portable devices such as laptops that enable them to access the internet freely via WIFI.
Did everyone have the same level of skill in using technology?
Was there a correlation between the level of access available and skills? The two graphs illustrated here represent browser preference and skill level. Matching accessibility and preference of internet browsers and that a majority of students are intermediate users who have selected Google Chrome as a preference above any other browser available.
