Scheduling Software • NEEDED to coordinate a workflow through multiple instruments • Calls where things go, when and what happens to them • • Timing of multiple processes on different instruments Calls protocols for each, when to start and when to end • This is separate from a LIMS system (Lab Information Management System) • LIMS track what has happened to each sample and archives each • DRIVER: is a software package that is written for an instrument to communicate with or be controlled by another system/software • Each instrument must have a driver written for integration • Scheduling software needs a driver for each instrument it talks to/controls 17
