Our Approach How UW-M and Marquette does it 8
Considerations Packaging Plans Milwaukee Our Approach Future Considerations 9 • Set up Fall Only, Spring Only packaging plans to accomplish one semester awards for each UGRD Career – Ugrd/Asoc • Put in Sula sub max in selection criteria • For Maximum – use equation engine for loan proration.
Considerations EFC Milwaukee Our Approach Future Considerations 10 • • All done manually currently and would like to automate. Adjust EFC to 4 months for Fall Only or Spring Only Term. Run batch INAS process to automatically adjust EFC in batch. Main driver for EFC proration is looking to see if budgets exist for fall or spring, then prorate.
Considerations Our Approach Future Considerations 11 EFC Milwaukee Considering: Use Two Pop Updates per semester 1. Update ISIR to 4 months 2. Update INAS flag to invoke INAS next time it runs

Considerations EFC Marquette Our Approach Future Considerations • • 13 All done manually currently and would like to automate. Would add to AY plan with same item types different split (seq) Adjust EFC to 4 months for Fall Only or 5 months for Spring Only Term. Run batch INAS process to automatically adjust EFC in batch. Need to watch out for Student Teachers if yes 5 months for Fall Need to watch out for our Winterim session if yes 5 months for Fall If prorating for summer make sure to not update AY for fall/summers Main driver for EFC proration is looking to see if budgets exist for fall or spring, then prorate.

Considerations COA Milwaukee Our Approach Future Considerations 18 • • All done manually currently and would like to automate. Make sure no extra term budget exists Make sure Pell Budget = full year full time If EGT is set correctly, will budget correctly for Fall only. • If EGT set after we already budgeted, will need to zero out Spring budget. • Have pop updates for fall and spring only ADHOC for rebudgeting • Look for students for fall who have Expected Grad Term (EGT) Decide if you want to use EGT from Acad Prog or FA Term Caution if using FA term: If Effective date of EGT set after term start fall term and can be effective the spring term. • Spring only will look at Admit Term EGT will not be in effect that
Considerations COA Milwaukee Our Approach Future Considerations 19 • Pop update to set the flags to Y to budget on fa term. • Criteria for fall - Look to see if isir on file, egt is set for fall.
Considerations COA Milwaukee Our Approach Future Considerations 20 • Pop update to set the flags to Y to budget on fa term. • Criteria for spring – look to see if isir on file, egt is set for spring, and admit term is spring.
Considerations COA Marquette Our Approach Future Considerations • • All done manually currently and would like to automate. Make sure no extra term budget exists Make sure Pell Budget = full year full time Technically no extra work to be done if full time and had EGT set when budget was built • If not full time award, need to adjust budget • If had EGT set later could have spring budget • Have pop updates for fall and spring only ADHOC for rebudgeting • Look for students for fall who have Expected Grad Term (EGT) Decide if you want to use EGT from Acad Prog or FA Term Caution if using FA term: If Effective date of EGT set after term start not be in effect that fall term and can be effective the spring term. • Spring only will look at Admit Term https: //www. heug. org/p/do/sd/sid=27614&fid=32232&req=direct 21 EGT will
Considerations Our Approach Future Considerations 22 Loan Proration Milwaukee • Formula used for loan proration is Credits enrolled/ # of Credit Hours in Academic Year (24) * annual Stafford loan limit • Convert the fraction to a decimal and then multiply the annual loan limit by the decimal. Ex: 9/24 =. 3750 or. 38, we round to the second decimal and then Multiply by annual Stafford loan limit.
Considerations Our Approach Future Considerations 23 Loan Proration Milwaukee • Created a record in People. Soft by using file parser to store the loan proration chart. • Use the record for our equation engines for packaging/repackaging. • Use the record (UWM_FA_LOAN_PRORATE) to query.

Loan Proration Considerations Marquette Our Approach Future Considerations Loan proration determines the maximum amount a student may borrow, not the loan amount the student actually receives. In some cases, the actual loan amount a student is eligible to receive (based on COA, EFC, etc. ) may be less than the prorated loan limit. Always truncate the cents; do not round. EXAMPLE: An undergraduate senior is graduating in fall and taking 18 credits/24 hours in AY x $7, 500 = $5, 625 (maximum Sub is $4, 125) EXAMPLE: An undergraduate senior is graduating in fall and taking 15 credits/24 hours in AY x $7, 500 = $4, 687. 50, so award $4, 687 (maximum Sub is $3, 437) EXAMPLE: An undergraduate senior is graduating in fall and taking 9 credits/24 hours in AY x $7, 500 = $2, 812. 50, so award $2, 812 (maximum Sub is $2, 062) 25

Future Considerations 28
Considerations Future Considerations Setup a Repackaging Plan Our Approach Future Considerations “Re Prorate” closer to mid summer/mid winter to capture enrollment would need to “Re Budget” would need to repackage Pell Use AA to avoid paying for credits not needed Set up $0 Budget formulas and rebudget students not enrolled to $0. Alternate Proration rules around student populations Ex Student Teaching Careful of Readmits If their EGT Date in the past, only will build FA Term if enrolled Could look like one term left when there isn’t If their Eff Date is future dated, won’t appear on FA Term until that date Budgeting will need to act differently in summer versus after start of term 29 https: //www. heug. org/p/fo/st/topic=3&post=323351#p 323351
