INTRODUCTION o Consider a farm field where certain crop is to be grown. There are four sensors buried under the ground at the four corners of the field. They sense the moisture level in the soil. The sensed parameter is converted into electrical signal and given to the signal conditioner block. The output of the signal conditioner is given to the microcontroller where the percentage of the moisture (signals) obtained. o The “Radio Frequency Identification Protocol (R. F. I. D. )” sends a signal to the control room (Wireless communication) situated within a distance of around 100 meters. o The RF I. D. receiver (READER) receives the transmitted signal and gives it to the CPU which is again an microcontroller. The program stored in the microcontroller runs the motor which will supply water to the field without personal attention.

DESCRIPTION OF BLOCK DIAGRAM o Input (ON FIELD) : This includes capturing the moisture content present in the soil of a particular agricultural field of a certain crop. o Output (OFF FIELD) : This will display the average percentage of moisture content in soil of that field at every instant. o Processing (ON/OFF FIELD) : This part is the work horse of the system and will be responsible for the following. a) Calculating the average percentage of the moisture level sensed by the four sensors. b) Comparing the sensed parameters with the referenced set points.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION OF RF MODULE o The R. F. I. D (Radio Frequency Identification Protocol) used in our project is to facilitate the proper communication between the on field system and off field system which is located within a distance of 100 meters. o The R. F. module used in our project is RFM 12 B. o It is High Speed - Low Power UHF Data Transceiver Module.

FEATURES OF RF MODULE o o o 433 MHz ISM Band Half Duplex 2 Channels PLL Synthesized Data rate up to 19200 bit/s Range : RFM 12 B : 100 meters range line-of-sight in open space Serial Interface Compatible with MCU CMOS No Manchester coding of data required Antenna : RFM 12 B : Loop antenna, on the PCB of the module Single 2. 7 to 5. 0 V Supply Standby Current 8µA

LCD DISPLAY o A liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel display, electronic visual display, or video display that uses the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly. o This LCD display is used in our project to display the status of field i. e temperature, moisture level percentage (25% - 75%) and working of motor etc.

SENSORS o The sensors used in our project are moisture sensors. The architecture of the sensors is as follows.

DESIGN DESCRIPTION OF SENSORS o The sensor used is made of plaster of paris, cement and timber. o The ratio of the overall mixture of plaster of paris: cement: timber is 2: 1: 1. o The sensor as a whole is buried in the ground with leads outside and sensor buried in inverted position. o The outer end which is shown as L 1&L 2 are conducting leads. These are connected to the network. o When sensors are installed at four corners of the field, the buried plaster of Paris sensors will sense the moisture content present in the soil. o Now the other ends are connected to the network to perform conditioning. o Similarly outputs from the remaining sensors are obtained which are given to their respective networks to perform conditioning.

ADVANTAGES o o o High water application efficiency. Ability to irrigate irregular shaped fields. Allows safe use of recycled water. Minimized soil erosion. High Security Highly uniform distribution of water i. e. , controlled by output of each nozzle. o Lower labor cost. o Man power reduces.

DISADVANTAGES o Short range of RF Module , but this can be overcome by using long range RFID, Reapeter or GSM technology

APPLICATIONS o o For agriculture purpose. In domestic application. Gardening. In green house.

CONCLUSION o Here we are conclude that our Indian agriculture based on Embedded & Wireless Technology.

FUTURE SCOPE o In future we will used GSM module for communication between On Field & Off Field. (Range of Wireless data transmission will be increase )
