AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR (AED) TRAINING ALWAYS CALL FOR THE RIG MEDIC OR EMERGENCY SERVICES (OR GET SOMEONE TO DO THIS) IMMEDIATELY 1. Confirm Cardiac Arrest 2. Turn on the AED 3. Apply the pads to the patient’s bare chest *Some AED’s may require you to plug the wire from the pads to the AED Unit – Usually next to a flashing light 4. Allow the AED to analyze the patient’s heart rhythm 5. If the AED recommends shock – Ensure everyone is clear (not touching the patient) THEN press the shock button 6. If the patient is still not breathing, commence CPR. 7. Continue to follow the AED Instructions or until professional help arrives. The Rig Medic/Doctor will now give a brief demonstration on the use of the AED on your rig
