Christopher Nolan Christopher Edward Nolan is an English film screenwriter, producer and director who holds both British and American citizenship. He is one of the highest-grossing directors in history, and among the most applauded filmmakers of the 21 st century since he has many directing skills which he portrays in his movies. Almost every Nolan movie starts with a scene, which plays a key role in the movie later, and grabs the audience attention immediately. It can be the bank robbery scene in The Dark Knight, the plane hijack in The Dark Knight Rises, or the ocean scene in Inception. Nolan doesn't believe in slowly introducing the movie, it comes with a bang and makes you sit upright in your chair. Most of the endings of his movies create a lot of debates. The most recent and famous being, "Was the movie Inception in real space or dream space? " And there's lots of information worth discussing, there was no dialogue between the characters after the planes landing or when Cobb came out of limbo, the kids were wearing the same clothes, similar posture and never aged both in his imagination and the so called reality in the end.

Directing Styles and techniques Christopher Nolan has a very unique way of presenting a movie. He messes with your memory, his movies are edited in a specific way that keeps the audience on their feet. Sometimes so much that it becomes hard to understand the movie completely if you miss the first five minutes. Original photography and editing and more importantly a non linear sequence, except for the movie Insomnia. Examples: Inception : If you miss the first few minutes, you don't realize that it is the Limbo state where Cobb tries to get back Saito. The Dark Knight : The scene where Joker gives Batman the address of Harvey Dents an Rachael is a very important scene. He purposely swaps the locations knowing that Batman will be able to save Harvey and Rachel's death will break the White Knight. a detail easily lost when you watch for the first time. So u need to keep focus. Memento : The narration is original and gripping. The whole Black and white, colored sequence moving in different directions meeting at a point is very interesting.

Comparison of The Dark Knight, Memento and Inception Each of his films are directed in a unique way with the outcome being spectacular since the audience are very impressed and happy with his films. For example: Dark Knight rises: The one thing going on in this movie is that how a hero whose identity is known to people, has limits and is corruptible, on the other hand, someone like a vigilante is not. He is really incorruptible with no bounds. This has attracted a lot to the audiences, creating the hype and massive expectation with The Dark Knight Rises, and how the vigilante meets his boundaries. Memento: The story is told on two parallel tracks, one runs forward, but the other runs backward, and that’s something we in the audience discover on our own. The story is slowly built up as a kind of dance between filmmaker and viewer, who are working together to find the meaning beside the protagonist. The audience’s temporal disorientation imitates the protagonist’s, and that makes for a more powerful viewing experience. Two of his films Memento and Inception are quite similar at an extent. In Memento, the protagonist (Guy Pearce) is suffering from a amnesia that leaves him without a short-term memory, and both his and the viewer’s perception of what’s real are affected by that condition. In Inception, the protagonist (Leonardo Di. Caprio) is trying to implant memories into someone else's head, and the nature of memory flows the plot.
