Your Athletic Trainer Chelsea Stanik, M. Ed. , AT, ROT • Location – Avon Lake Family Health Center (Registered Orthopedic Technician) – Fairview High School • Education – 2013: BS in Athletic Training , University of Mount Union – 2015: MEd in Education of Exercises Science, Cleveland State University • Certifications – Registered Orthopedic Technician – Board certified & state licensed Athletic Trainer – American Heart Association CPR Instructor for Basic Life Support (BLS) • Contact Information – csapp@fairview. k 12. oh. us (primary) – stanikc@ccf. org (secondary)
Availability • Athletic Training Room: – Located next to the high school gym – Hours: § Fall: 2: 30 -6: 45 pm § Winter: 2: 30 -6: 30 pm § Spring: 2: 30 -6 pm - These hours will vary depending on in-season sport practices/games. • Available for injury evaluation, management and rehabilitation • Available to assist with facilitation of sports medicine and concussion appointments at any Cleveland Clinic facility • On site at home high school athletic contests, as well as away varsity football games • Coverage varies depending on schedule of events.
Concussion Management • Mandatory baseline testing utilizing Im. PACT and/or C 3 concussion management system • All concussions must be reported to the athletic trainer • Electronic injury tracking • Systematic management and gradual return to play after physician clearance. – This is Ohio law! • Work with school administration to provide academic accommodations, if required • Attempt to provide the safest, most comprehensive and most up to date care for your athlete • Visit ohsaa. org’s or clevelandclinic. org/concussion for more information regarding concussions

Im. PACT testing • To take the test, you can find the link under the “Im. PACT testing consent” tab. • This is mandatory for all high school athletic teams – All incoming 9 th and 11 th grade contact sport athletes • Computer based platform measuring reaction time, motor speed, visual & verbal memory C 3 testing • C 3 testing date is TBA (in the summer months) that will take place at the HS. • Use an i-pad to measure balance, reaction time, visual acuity, memory & cognition Presentation Title l 10 March 2021 l 6

COVID Related Suggestions/Recommendations/Requirements for Outreach ATCs • • When evaluating an athlete in your athletic training rooms (Non-acute) ATC and ATHLETE MUST BE MASKED (or have FACE COVERING) Athlete and ATC foam in (20 second hand washing/foam/hand sanitizer) Gloves must be worn by the AT (or any provider) during all evaluations, treatments and rehab sessions. Gloves must be changed between patients. Athlete is asked symptom checklist Athlete’s temperature is taken • Evaluation occurs. Documentation of encounter occurs, including temperature and symptom checklist Athlete and ATC foam out (20 second hand washing/foam/hand sanitizer) Exam table and all other surfaces are disinfected Presentation Title l 10 March 2021 l 13
COVID info continued • New Symptoms added to checklist • FEVER, LOSS of TASTE or SMELL, CHILLS, SORE THROAT, COUGHCONGESTION, RUNNY NOSE SHORTNESS OF BREATH or DIFFICULTY, NAUSEA, FATIGUE, VOMITING, MUSCLE or BODY ACHES, DIARRHEA, HEADACHE • MUST STAY HOME!! • In the event an athlete has a temperature or answers yes to any of the symptoms on the check list; – – The athlete needs to contact their PCP or be given the On-Line Express Care tear off sheet. The athlete WILL need a release from their physician to return. The coach MUST notify the parents of all the athletes that the athlete came in contact with. COVID Info continued • In the event that an athlete is ill and awaiting results from Covid-19 test or In the event that an athlete tests positive for Covid-19: – Cleveland Clinic Athletic Trainers will follow the guidelines laid out by: –Ohio Governing Body –OHSAA –Conference –School Presentation Title l 10 March 2021 l 15
If your athlete goes to the doctor…. • If you take your son/daughter to the doctor for any reason… please bring a note for the coach and athletic trainer. • The note should include: – Diagnosis – Any treatment needed – Clearance for return to sport
