Learning Target and Success Criteria Learning Target: I will know what are the requirements to play basketball for MVMS Golden Bears I will be able to locate the athletic page on our MVMS Website I will be able to show my parents where they can register me for athletics on the Family. ID website. I will know where to go for a pink card if I want to participate in athletics. Success Criteria: I can summarize and explain to my parents, the steps to follow if I want to participate in any after school athletics program.

Ma Maple View Golden Bears Basketball Coaches 7 th Grade-Robert Talbert (MVMS Assistant Principal) 8 th Grade-Phil Kitzes Tryouts begin Monday, November 4 th at Maple View Middle School gym from 2: 30 – 4: 30 pm 7 th grade 3 days, 8 th 3 days Be sure to have your Athletic Participation Card with you at the first tryout. Athletes will not be eligible to try out until they have a Participation Card. See the “Sports Registration Link” below. Practices will normally run from 2: 30 -4: 30. Parents need to arrange for their player to be picked up after practice at MVMS no later than 4: 45 pm. Team Selection Process- To be a member in Tahoma’s Basketball Program is a privilege that many would love to have. Being a part of the program can be a lot of fun as players will have the opportunity to develop lasting friendships and memories. It will take solid effort and a strong commitment to make this year something special. o o o Determining factors in selecting the team: Determining the best players. Determining the proper position for each player within the team context. Determining the correct combination for the strongest starting unit. Determining the first line replacements and possible realignment of positions to keep team strength. Determining the proper number and proper players to constitute the full squad.

Most important characteristics to consider when evaluating players: Behaviors○ Effort ○ Commitment ○ Cooperation and team attitude ○ Fight, determination, courage, desire, enthusiasm ○ Self-control Skills: Fundamentals○ Experience ○ Court awareness ○ Ball handling and shooting Physical Traits○ Quickness and speed ○ Size/Jumping ability ○ Coordination. Unfortunately, not everyone who turns out will be able to be on the team. The 10 -12 players who best display the characteristics described above will become Maple View’s 7 th/8 th grade basketball team. Final cuts will be made on Wednesday, November 6 th based on the factors listed above. Upload your physical form on line From the Family. ID website, you can upload your Athletic Physical. Just scan it or take a picture of it, and upload it to your account.
