History (Chesney and Mc. Anarney, 2001) n 1960 - Informally begun at APS-SPR meeting by Charles Janeway n 1961 - Met at Brookhaven National Laboratories on Long Island as The Conference of Chairmen of Pediatrics in American and Canadian Medical Schools n 1962 -63 - Traymore in Atlantic City and Palmer House in Chicago n 1964 - Association of Medical School Department Chairmen at Arden House, NY

History (Chesney and Mc. Anarney, 2001) n Early 1960’s - Became politically active…NICHD, Head Start n 1967 - AMSPDC, Inc. n 1970’s - Two snowstorms sent AMSPDC to southern locations for annual March meetings n 1997 - Association of Medical School Pediatric Chair(men )s, Chair( )s Inc.

Administration n President, President-Elect and Past President (each serving 2 years) n Secretary-Treasurer (serves 6 years) n Executive Committee (meets twice a year) Officers n 8 American chairs and 1 Canadian Chair proposed by separate nominating committee (serve 3 years) n Jean Bartholomew n

Administration n Jean Bartholomew at the American Board of Pediatrics offices in Chapel Hill, NC (by contract with the Board) Administrator, financial manager and site selector n More importantly: the glue, memory and conscience of AMSPDC n

Collaborations n Federation of Pediatric Organizations (FOPO): AMSPDC, AAP, ABP, APS, SPR, APA, APPD.
