Association of Enterprise Architects International Committee on Enterprise Architecture Standards Business Case for the EA Management Guide • • • In the EA field, there is lack of consensus on EA concepts, theories, approaches, and best practices. Confusions and disagreements are widespread. For example: – What is enterprise architecture (The actual structure? The documentation and blueprints? A management process? A discipline? ) – What makes a sound architecture? – How to architect an enterprise to reach architectural soundness? Lack of consensus causes difficulty in judging the quality of EA. Consequently, the quality of EA suffers. The EAMG development process will foster the EA evolution and standardization. The guide would improve: understanding, adoption, and quality of EA. It may also improve its standing with non-architects, i. e, be seen as more credible. January 2006 aeajournal. org 4
