What is Associated Students? § Non-profit, public benefit California corporation chartered by the Board of Trustees of the California State University. § Annual budget of over $650, 000 which is administered by students § Mission is to foster effective student governance in the University, protect student rights, and provide instrumental programming to the campus community.

How is A. S. Structured? § Annual elections every Spring semester

Club Funding Overview § Budgeted $113, 000 for clubs/organizations § Funding allocated for specific events § Also opportunities for Club Sports funding and other requests evaluated on an individual basis

Club Event Funding § Specific event requirements § On campus § Open to all Fresno State students § FREE (any admissions charges MUST be approved by the AS Finance Committee) § Deadlines § Requesting under $1, 0000 - Three (3) weeks § Requesting over $1, 000 - Five (5) weeks

Club Event Funding The Process: § The Process § Submit Funding Request to AS Office § Vice President of Finance reviews application § Finance Committee reviews application § If under $1, 000 -- Finance Committee approves/denies § If over $1, 000 -- Finance Committee will either recommend for Senate approval or deny application § If approved -- Vice President of Finance will send official Award Letter to your club mailbox

Club Sports Funding § Two types: § Normal requests § Insurance requests § Liability § Secondary Medical § Both required by the Chancellor and the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development

Club Sports Funding Normal Requests § Submit normal requests using the Funding Application found on the AS website § Subject to all terms/conditions of AS Fiscal Policy and Funding Guidelines except some events may be held off campus and certain expenditures may be approved (i. e. non-event funding for paying referee costs) § See funding guidelines for detailed information.

Club Sports Funding Insurance Requests § Budgeted on an annual basis § Submit requests for the next Fiscal year § Finance Committee, VP of Finance, and Senate will evaluate requests § May apply for funding of both liability and secondary-medical insurance § Use Funding Application found on AS website

Details of Funding § If you plan to advertise, all publicity MUST give credit to A. S. § Must use approved AS logo § Must submit expense forms for reimbursement within 45 days of event or by June 1 (whichever is sooner) § Must stay within approved budget lineitems (or request amendment through VP of Finance)

Annual Budget Requests § Every year the Associated Students approves its annual budget § You may submit a budget request for funding during this period § Your request must be made on the budget process form, available in the Associated Students office. § Submit the form to the VP of Finance.
