Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pelin GUNDES BAKIR Pelin Gundes Bakir is a Professor of Structural Mechanics in the Department of Civil Engineering of Istanbul Technical University. She has recieved her Diploma (DIC) and Masters degrees from the Civil Engineering Department of Imperial College, University of London and obtained her Ph. D in Structural Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. She worked as a post-doctoral fellow in Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium from 2003 to 2006. She is the author of 17 refereed international journal papers, 4 books and more than 35 international conference papers. Her research interests cover damage detection by vibration monitoring, finite element model updating, inverse problems in mechanics, optimization, earthquake engineering and nonlinear dynamic analysis. Pelin Gundes is in the Editorial Boards of the Acoustics Journal (2007 -), Atmospheric Science Journal (2007 -), and the SAMPE Journal of Advanced Materials (2003 -2006).
