Assignments Summary Weekly Power Point Helps These are from the Publisher (Pearson) and cover Henslin’s text chapter by chapter. The two texts are Henslin’s Essentials of Sociology 10 th Ed. (or most current edition), and the book There Are No Children Here
Assignments Summary Weekly Forum Post/Interactions Every week we will have a forum with questions that cover material for the week and other questions that pertain to the topics. This is a unique online classroom with its advantages and challenges. Advantages include ease of interaction and convenience; challenges are no face-to-face interaction. So, it is important to keep interacting as much as possible and to keep up with assignments.
Assignments Summary Weekly Quizzes Every week will take a weekly quiz on the topics of the week. This will be worth 0 -100% per quiz and even have an extra credit question to develop on your own worth 5% extra. Remember to supply your own answer to your question for full credit for the question.
Assignments Summary Weekly Critical Response Papers (CRP) Every week will compose a Critical Response Paper that reviews and reflects on the week’s learning (reading from the texts, websites, multimedia, forum interaction) and inquiries from a personal perspective. The CRP is assignment is also part of the CRP Interaction Forum described on the next slide.
Assignments Summary Weekly Critical Response Papers (CRP) Interaction Forum Every week we will upload our Critical Response Papers (CRP) to the CRC Interaction Forum and then respond to at least two other people’s CRC’s for the week in this forum. This is designed to give us all more interaction and to see how other people are processing the material. We can also enter our responses to the Extra Credit Quiz Student Questions in this forum if you choose to – but this is not a requirement.
Assignments Summary Organization Interview The Organization Interview is meant to engage you with real-time professionals who are working in the field you are pursuing or have some interest in.
Assignments Summary Academic Synthesis Paper This final project is meant to practice not only academic writing skills (in APA format), but more importantly to gather and synthesize the information you found most helpful in this class pertaining to your area of interest and vocational journey.
Assignments Summary Introductory Forum Brief Biography In the introductory forum, found in the Orientation Module, students are asked to describe briefly who they are, where they study and any facts you think would be of interest. There is also an introductory survey in the Orientation Module that each student needs to fill out as part of the introduction for the instructor to become acquainted with each student’s goals for the class.
Assignments Summary Extra Credit Responses to Student Extra Credit Questions from Weekly Quizzes For this extra credit assignment, you will need to answer each set of student questions compiled from that Week’s extra credit question provided at the end of each Week’s Quiz. You must answer all questions in this assignment to receive credit. This extra credit assignment is worth 2% extra to your final grade.
Assignments Summary Extra Credit Book Report The extra credit book report is worth 2% and can add a lot to your overall grade. This is not a required assignment, but if you choose to complete this there is a template for book reports to follow located in the Instructions for Assignments under Extra Credit Book report.
Assignments Summary Class Participation Again, it is important to keep up with all assignments and to interact with as many people and as often as possible. At the end of the quarter each student will be evaluated on how they participated and stayed up with the schedule. Participation also includes interaction with the Professor and making sure communication is open with the instructor at all times. Class Participation is worth 10% of the final grade.
