RFID Tag location Guide • An RFID tag should be attached so it is visible when the device is placed in its final location. • The tag should not interfere with the operation of the device. • The location shown is preferable, but another location can be used if: – The preferred location will not allow the device to operate, and; – The alternative location has been approved by the TOC Project Manager. • Alternate tag location considerations. Attach the Tag directly to the device, not to a cable or other removable part. – The mounting surface to be flat; – Does not cover vent holes; – Tag to be places parallel to the device edge; (Cont’d)
RFID Tag location Guide • Alternate tag location considerations: (Cont’d) – Tag is placed so it is protected as much as possible. – Tag to be fully supported with no overhang that might create a catch point. – Does not cover factory applied stickers or text, such as model or serial number, device name or manufacturer information. • Attaching the tag: – Attaching the tag with the adhesive strip is preferred, unless shown otherwise; – Coated stainless steel tie straps can be used it the adhesive strip cannot be used. , or; – A stainless steel twisted wire and lead seal can be used only if the adhesive strip or coated stainless steel tie strap cannot be used.
