This submission explores three distinct themes of Surfaces and Textures, Typography and Structure. This provides a breadth of sources which facilitate balanced development of the enquiry to meet all the assessment objectives. The Learner Statement is utilised to reflect on ideas but might have benefited from being used as an ongoing working document to state initial ideas and then to record progress as the enquiry proceeded. AO 1 Relevant and personal contextual sources are analysed consistently then applied in a generally sustained manner to the development of ideas. Visual analysis tends to be more rigorous than written, which is often straightforward in its interpretations of the work of others. There is some understanding of purposes, meanings and contexts which generally informs the more personal aspects of the submission. AO 2 There is some evidence of relevant photographic media and processes being explored with some annotation evidencing technical information that is intended to improve the photographs taken. There is some creative potential exploited, but reviewing and refining is not robustly undertaken to facilitate a higher level of skill. Connections are made between sources when experimenting with photographic processes across themes in the submission. AO 3 The submission evidences relevant recording of ideas via some of the contact sheets and relevant insights are generally evident in developing starting points. There is some attempt at written critical analysis, but this is more descriptive than analytical and does not always help to inform the direction of the submission. There is stronger evidence included of some visual critical analysis which does have some breadth and depth. AO 4 Responses to sources are literal and do not push forward to present consistent realisation of intentions. There is some evidence of imagination and a personal approach which would have benefited from being informed further through refined skills. There are some connections made which are relevant, but the submission might have been further enhanced by responding with deeper meaning to produce more conclusive outcomes.
