Morgan Le Fay Morgan was King Arthur's half-sister and is sometimes said to be the mistress of Sir Accolon of Gaul. Morgan is often portrayed as the King's enemy and often plots his downfall. In one story she stole Excalibur and sent it to Accolon who then challenged Arthur to a single combat. Accolon admitted his guilt and surrendered when King Arthur recognized his sword was being used. After the bloody battle against Sir Mordred, Morgan was one of the three women to take the king to Avalon in a black boat.

Lady of the Lake • This mysterious female gave Arthur his sword, Excalibur. She stole Lancelot when he was a child and cured him when he went mad. She may be a Celtic lake divinity in origin, perhaps of the same kind as the Gwagged Annwn lake fairies in modern Welsh folklore. In Ulrich, the fairy who raised Lancelot is the mother of Mabuz. As Mabuz is probably identical with the Celtic god Mabon, it would seem that the fairy must be Morgan Le Fay who was, earlier, Mabon's mother. Matrona. A lady of the lake, perhaps a different one, was killed by Balin. • Woman who gave Arthur Excalibur and then took it back when Bedivere threw it back into the lake. She is also said to have intervened when Morgan Le Fay gave Excalibur to Accolon, who tried to kill the king with it

Mordred was the son of King Arthur, a product of accidental incest between Arthur

Mordred was the son of King Arthur, a product of accidental incest between Arthur and his sister, Morgause. When Arthur learned this, he had all children born the same day as Mordred put on a ship, which was then sunk. Mordred just happened to be the only child to survive, of course. Later on, Mordred grew up to become one of the knights of the Round Table, but he used this power to hurt others for his own gain, raping women and pillaging as he pleased. When King Arthur left him in command for a while, Mordred took control of Camelot and made himself king. When Arthur returned, there was a great battle. In some versions of the tale, Arthur kills Mordred, but is mortally wounded in the process, while in other versions Mordred escapes after killing Arthur but is struck down by Lancelot. Mordred

Camelot is the capital of the land that King Arthur rules. In it resides Cadbury Castle, Arthur's castle and the site most associated with Camelot. Following the death of King Uther, no one could decide who was rightful heir

Following the death of King Uther, no one could decide who was rightful heir to the throne; the whole of Britain was in jeopardy. The archbishop of Canterbury summoned the nobilty in order to find a new king. The archbishop promised the nobility that the true succession to Britain's throne would be miraculously revealed. After making this promise the congregation filed out to the yard. Here they were confronted by a marble block into which had been thrust a sword (many claim this sword to be Excaliber). Many of the nobles attempted to pull the sword from the stone, but none were able to. A tournament was scheduled on New Year's day to grant men of noble blood an opportunity to prove their right of succession. Young Arthur managed to pull the sword from the stone. There was only one problem, Arthur was of ignoble blood. So the tournament was repeated several times, but each had the same outcome. No men of noble blood were able to draw the sword from the stone, but young Arthur could do it with ease. This is when everyone realized that he was destined to be their king. Excalibur

Many Knights of the round table crossed Brittain in their search for a knight to enter the Holy Grail. The knight that was permitted to enter the Grail was Galahad. His life became complete and together grail and man were lifted up to heaven.

Sir Gawain and the Green Knight Sir Gawain was one of the most chivalrous knights of the round table. On New Year's Eve, a giant Green Knight challenged the Knights of the Round Table to a behading contest. Gawain was the only knight to take the challenge and beheaded the Knight with one stroke, at which point the Green Knight told him where to go next year for his turn under the blade. When it came close to the deadline, when Gawain was traveling to the isolated church where he was to meet the Knight, Gawain stayed three nights at the home of a knight called Sir Bercilak's beautiful wife took a liking to Gawain, but he resisted her advances until the third day, when he reluctantly accepted a token- a green scarffrom her. When Gawain met up with the Green Knight, the Knight was revealed to be Sir Bercilak who swung his axe at Gawain three times. The first two times, the axe refused to hit Gawain because he didn; t do anything with his host's wife. The third time, the axe cut a little into his neck because he had accepted the sash. This freed Bercilak from the curse that had been placed on him.
