Edifici Torre Espiral ‘Spiraling Tower’ By: Zaha Hadid This building is located in Barcelona, Spain. v. Edifici Torre Espiral was designed in partnership with Patrik Schumacher v. The building covers 115 city blocks. v. Since 2000 it has been changed from a derelict industrial zone into a commercial hub.
Media The inspiration for the building was a thread shooting in from somewhere outside of the frame and the thread winding itself loosely, resembling a building. The sketch’s thread itself lazily entangled in itself becoming a built form, offset stacks of support balconies. From the diagram empty spaces turned architecturally into ribbon windows.
Description Line, Color, Form, and Shape were used in the building of this structure. Curvy lines were incorporated in the art on the sketch in order to get the spiral design for the building. Color was included into the ribbon windows. Form was used is this art piece by the three dimension the thread creates. Shape was entangled into the building with all of the buildings windows and floors.
Analyze Pattern, Balance, and Proportion were included into the structure of the building. On the ribbon windows with the white and a clear blue colored window pattern is incorporated pattern. The buildings shape and form create balance between the top and bottom of the building. Proportion was showed in the building as it fit together.
Interpret I think the meaning of the building is to be creative. I think this because it is a spiraling building I don’t see that every day and (to me) it is one of a kind. The building is made to be unique, most unique items are made creatively and made with a purpose to be one of a kind, original.
Evaluate I personally think the building is beautiful. I would like to see it in person if I had a chance. The element combined to make the principles that worked together and did not over power one another. The design of the ribbon windows are gorgeous. I truly believe the structure is beuatiful.
