What is architectural engineering? Architectural engineering pertains to the structural demands and functionality of a building. Architectural engineers may be focused on, for example heating and or lighting systems within a building. These engineers are often working alongside architects and construction workers to ensure well bound and efficient systems as well as the building safety.
So what education do you need?
1 Highschool Education ● One must attain a high school diploma with a strong foundation in math and science along with taking the classes biology, physics, chemistry, geometry, trigonometry, and algebra.
2 Post Secondary School One must also attain a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from an accredited program. One may go on to acquire a graduate degree to advance to a higher position.
How do you get a license?
In order to charge the public for their services, architectural engineers need to acquire a license and to do this they need to take the two exams: FE Exam People may take the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam near their (college) graduation in order to set themselves up for licensure. PE Exam After 4 years of experience, people are allowed to take the second exam which is the Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam which is the final test in order to acquire a license in that field.
What skills do you need to be successful?
Communication skills communication skills are necessary since they are often working in partnerships
Creativity Architectural engineers are often faced with the task of making theoretical ideas realistic and to do so requires creative thinking
Problem Solving Skills When coming across complex problems, they must overcome them in order to achieve successful results
How much do architectural engineers make?
Wages Starting architectural engineers, with a bachelor’s degree, make an annual salary of about $50, 000. With nine to ten years of experience, they would have a salary of about $70, 000 a year. Beginners- $50, 000 Intermediate- $70, 000
