Functions/Formula n Function = predefined Formula ¨ E. g. the following formula contains the SUM function: = (B 4 + 25) / SUM(D 5: F 5) 24 Mar 04 5
Relative / Absolute References E. g. n n Enter the formula =A 1 into cell B 2 Copy the formula from B 2 and paste into B 3. Formula changes to =A 2 automatically. Copy the formula from B 2 and paste into C 4. Formula changes to =B 3 automatically. Why? – Relative B 2 to C 4: column no. +1. So A becomes B in the formula A 1 row no. + 2. So 1 becomes 3 in the formula A 1 Hence Formula changes to =B 3 Final result: 24 Mar 04 6
Relative / Absolute References E. g. n n Enter the formula =$A$1 into cell B 2 Copy the formula from B 2 and paste into B 3. Formula remains as =$A$1 – absolute!!. Copy the formula from B 2 and paste into C 4. Formula remains as =$A$1 – absolute!!. Final result? ? 24 Mar 04 7
