Permitting Payment for Services Rendered by Family Caregivers or Legally Responsible Individuals • Previously, select services could not be delivered by immediate family members or spouses. • This requirement has been temporarily modified; immediate family members or spouses can provide services during the entirety of the Appendix K period (3/1/2020 - 30 days following the end of the emergency, as declared by Governor Mills, or February 28, 2021, whichever comes sooner). Modifying Provider Qualifications: Age • Previously, Direct Support Professionals and Personal Support Specialists were required to be at least 18 years old. • This requirement has been temporarily modified during the Appendix K period; staff must be at least 17 years old. Modifying Provider Qualifications: Education • Previously, Direct Support Professionals and Personal Support Specialists were required to have a high school diploma or a GED. • This requirement has been temporarily modified; neither a high school diploma nor a GED is required during the Appendix K period. Modifying Provider Qualifications: Background Check • Previously, a provider was required to conduct background checks on prospective employees. • This requirement has been temporarily modified; staff are eligible to provide support to members prior to background check clearance. Modifying Provider Qualifications: Orientation/ Initial Training • Previously, a provider was required to deliver orientation and facilitate initial training for new employees. • This requirement has been temporarily modified; orientation and initial training must by completed by the end of the Appendix K. Modifying Provider Qualifications: Certification • Previously, DSP and PSS certifications were required within 6 and 9 months, respectively. • This requirement has been temporarily modified; certification must be completed by the end of the Appendix K.
