APPENDICULAR SKELTON It consists of the shoulder girdle with the upper Limbs and pelvic girdle with the lower Limbs. Shoulder girdle It consists of 2 scapula and 2 clavicle. 1. Scapula #. It is a flat triangular shape bone locates on the posterior chest wall. #. Laterally the scapula has a cavity called as glenoid cavity to which head of the humerus attaches and forms the shoulder joint. #. On the posterior side there is a projection called as spine. #. The prominent point of the shoulder is called as acromion process, this joints with the clavicle and forms acromio clavicular joint.
) E N O B R A L L O C ( E CLAVICL #. It is a S shape long bone #. It locates on the lateral wall of the shoulder. #. It joins with the manubrium of the sternum and forms sterno clavicular joint, It also joins with the acromion process of the scapula and forms the acromio clavicular joint. #. The clavicle is the only bone that links axial and appendicular skeleton.
UPPER LIMBS HUMERUS #. It is the bone of upper arm. #. The head locates in the glenoid cavity of the scapula and forms shoulder joint. #. On the head of the humerus there is a projection called as greater and lesser tubercles. #. Between these two Tubercles the gap is called as biceptal grooves. #. The humerus distally attaches with radius and ulna to form elbow joint.
RADIUS AND ULNA #. These are the bones of the forearm. #. the ulna is longer than the radius. #. these two bones proximally connected with humerus and forms elbow joint and distally connected with carpal bones to form wrist joint.
