OSHA’s Mission • The mission of OSHA is to save lives, prevent injuries and protect the health of America’s workers. • Some of the things OSHA does to carry out its mission include: • developing job safety and health standards and enforcing them through worksite inspections, • maintaining a reporting and recordkeeping system to keep track of job-related injuries and illnesses, and • providing training programs to increase knowledge about occupational safety and health. 6
• You have the right to: What Rights Do You Have Under OSHA? • A safe and healthful workplace • Know about hazardous chemicals • Information about injuries and illnesses in your workplace • Complain or request hazard correction from employer • Training • Hazard exposure and medical records • File a complaint with OSHA • Participate in an OSHA inspection • Be free from retaliation for exercising safety and health rights 7
OSHA’s Reporting Fatalities and Severe Injuries Employers only have to report an inpatient hospitalization, amputation or loss of an eye that occurs within 24 hours of a work-related incident. Employers must report workrelated fatalities within 8 hours of finding out about them. 8

Supervisors When your employee reports a work-related injury or exposure: 1. Complete USC Injury Report and Supervisor Injury Report 2. Call Comp. Endium 877 -709 -2667 3. Ensure Injured employee is available to provide and receive information by Nurse Case Manger at time of call. 12
