Anita Garibaldi- the beginning ❖ Born August 31, 1821 and died in 1849 ❖ Never had a formal education, but like all girls at that time, she became a good equestrian ❖ Because of her ‘unruliness’ she was forced to marry Manoel Aguiar, a 25 year old shoemaker, when she was just 14. Anita Garibaldi ❖ Mother of 4: Menotti, Rosita, Teresa, Ricciotti ❖ Rosita passed away at 2 ½ years old with their maid during an accidental fire when they were locked in a room and could not escape but other sources say that it was scarlet fever ➢ Birth year not official, some sources say 1841 others say 1843 ➢ Tombstone says 1843 -1845: she would have been 2 ½ according to tombstone
