TASK: It will be your task to choose one of these hand art images to reproduce. SUCCESS CRITERIA I can reproduce an image with the correct proportion I can reproduce an image with detail I can match colours in my reproduction I can blend colours effectively to produce a realistic image Note: At school we usually use watercolouring pencils as these work really well for blending the background however standard colouring pencils will work too.

LESSON 1: PROPORTION In order to reproduce an image successfully you need to first consider PROPORTION You don’t want it to small that it doesn’t fill the page Or too big that it doesn’t fit that page

LESSON 1: PROPORTION AND DETAIL 1. To ensure you reproduce the image with the correct proportion divide both the image you intend to copy and your plain paper into quarters - this can be done by gently folding the paper in half and then half again. (If you can’t print the image just draw the lines onto the image you select from this Power. Point using the insert shapes icon). 2. Now reproduce the image by sketching (lightly) one quarter at a time (don’t colour the quarters in just yet). 3. Sketch in the details – but remember a lot of the detail you will also add in with the colours.

Lesson 2 : COLOUR Once you are happy with the proportion and detail of your image it is time to colour it in. Look closely at the colours used and try to mimic those. For some images the background in particular is a blend of two colours. Also look closely at the details and shading created with the colours (feathers, fur etc). If you have used watercolour pencils then at this point use a thin paintbrush, dab it in some water, pat off any excess, and gently brush it onto the colours to blend. VOILA! Please do email or tweet pics of your art work as we would love to see and celebrate your work.
