Task Choose an animal from a climate zone to research. Then write an eye catching and interesting animal Fact File.
What is an animal Fact File?
Animal Fact File • It is an information text. It gives facts about the topic. • The writing is organised under different headings and is clearly set out using titles. • It often has pictures and diagrams to explain any writing. • Technical words are often used. • It sometimes have Fun Fact sections or Did you know?
Research • Research your animal under the following headings. • What it looks like (Appearance)? • Where it lives (Habitat) and some information about how it has adapted to that climate zone? • What it Eats? • Fun Facts
Red Squirrel Research Notes What it looks like (Appearance)? • Small mammal that weighs between 250 g to 350 g. • The red squirrel’s long bushy tail helps them to balance when they are running and jumping across branches. It may also be used to keep them warm when they sleep. • A red squirrel sheds its coat every two years. • They can live for seven years.

Red squirrels use their tail to balance when they are running and jumping across branches. Furthermore, they use their tail to keep them warm at night. Red squirrels have two toes and four fingers on each paw.
