What do I do? What am I in charge of? A crash course designed to help us transition before hiring a person to replace the anesthesia tech role.
We’re all in charge If you are an anesthesiologist, scrub, circulator, or charge nurse, it’s your job to be sure our ORs are safe and ready for our patients. It’s a full time job that we are looking to hire for, but until then, we need to bridge the gap. How to Reorder Medications When medication is used from the cart, anesthesia will use the OB Anesthesia Cart Medication list and charge sheet to write the quantity used. The circulator will put the patient label on the form and send to pharmacy. The scrub nurse will replace the medication by going into Accudose and search OR Cart to pull medications. Pharmacy will charge the patient from the sheet.
Additional Drug Info Drugs to be dated after removal from refrigerator Succinylcholine 14 days Atracurium Rocuronium 14 days 60 days Muliti dose drugs are good for 28 days once opened Single dose drugs/vials are discarded after single use Water trap on anes machine is changed every 4 weeks Soda lime should be changed when color turns purple
