• Machu Picchu (which means "manly peak") was most likely a royal estate and religious retreat. It was built between 1460 and 1470 AD by Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui, an Incan ruler.

Sierra Madre Oriental • Sierra Madre Oriental is a mountain range that extends southward throughout eastern Mexico, running parallel to the Gulf of Mexico. • It averages 200 miles wide, but its mountains are relatively low, and without prominent peaks. • Its highest peak is Cerro PeÒa Nevada (12, 021 ft. ), which is also well known for its caves.
