Line Graphs

Line graphs • • Shows changes in related variables Independent variable is y-axis Dependent

Line graphs • • Shows changes in related variables Independent variable is y-axis Dependent variable is x-axis Slope = rise/run

Direct proportion • The ratio of the variables is constant. The slope is constant.

Direct proportion • The ratio of the variables is constant. The slope is constant. Slope = 1 Mass (g) Mass vs. Volume (m. L)

Inverse Proportion • Slope: rise = 1/run Time (minutes) Time it takes to fill

Two students were thirsty one day and decided to find out what type of fruit was the best for making the most juice to drink. They took six different kinds of fruits and squeezed them as much as they could to get all of the juice out. They collected the juice from each piece of fruit into a cup and measured their volume in milliliters. The data from their experiment can be seen in the table below. Type of Fruit Amount of Juice (m. L) Apple 25 Orange 37 Lemon 18 Banana 3 Watermelon 89 Pear
